MUNICH, Germany, October 29 /PRNewswire/ -- With four of the Innovative Lawyer Awards of the British newspaper Financial Times, Noerr Stiefenhofer Lutz is the most successful German law firm in international competition for market and client-centred ideas. In continental Europe, Noerr was placed third. The results of this highly regarded competition were announced in London on 16 October. "The result vindicates our strategy of giving partners entrepreneurial freedom even in a major law firm - the freedom to think commercially," said Dr. Dieter Schenk, Noerr's co-speaker.

The Munich partner, Prof. Dr. Thomas Klindt, was awarded the title of Legal Innovator of the Year for "contributing to the change in attitude to compliance in Germany," according to the jury. Under Klindt's leadership, Noerr organised Compliance Days with attendances totalling more than 1,000, mostly in-house lawyers in international companies. As co-publisher of the periodical Corporate Compliance and honorary professor for technical safety law, he decisively influences the discussion on legal risk management in Germany.

By headlining compliance and providing in-house lawyers with a forum for discussion, Noerr's client service approach has also been recognised: "The first law firm to offer serious compliance training and discussion after the Siemens case in Germany," wrote the FT.

Noerr achieved another award for the legal structuring of the financing for the world's largest biomass power station in Penkun, Mecklenburg Western Pomarania. "The law firm developed ... a new form of asset financing," according to the citation.

The marketing of the law firm was also "Highly Commended". According to the jury, "the use of humour and irony in this manner for the marketing of the law firm is an innovation on the German market," referring to the folded leaflets in cheque card format, checklists for IT security legal questions or how to act in disputes with the public prosecution service. "These small cards contain important practical hints."
