Available for purchase exclusively online at www.jaxeverett.com, the brand’s initial line of shirts and sweaters are designed to eliminate the excess fabric experienced in regular-sized clothing, which creates a bulky, baggy look in shorter men.
“According to the U.S. 2012 Health and Vital Statistics survey, nearly 50 percent of the male population is 5'9" and under. This is a tremendously underserved market in the fashion industry. And, like me (I’m 5'8"), these men are faced with the challenge of clothes that don’t fit their frame,” said Charles Luu, president and founder of Jax Everett. “We selected shirts and sweaters as the brand’s initial products because they are typically the two most challenging categories to find the right fit for 5'9" and under, and are not as easy or cost-effective to alter.”
Jax Everett shirts and sweaters are made with the same luxurious fabrics and in manufacturing facilities that global, iconic brands use, but are designed to properly fit men 5'9" and under for a more streamlined, slimming appearance. The result is a collection that looks great in the office, on the town and everywhere in between.
Jax Everett incorporates the best attributes of men’s shirts into its button-down collection to not only make the shirt function better, but also create a taller, leaner look for the man wearing it. Everything from collar height, armhole size, shirt length and waist size was taken into consideration to create a shirt that fits exactly the way a shirt should.
Jax Everett sweaters are available in two styles: a quarter-zip and V-neck sweater. By reducing the tension in the hem and cuff, as well as the overall length of the sweaters, excess fabric was eliminated to create a less bulky, more slimming visual effect. Jax Everett sweaters are made from 100 percent extra-fine merino wool spun by one of Italy’s most prominent wool mills, Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia. Their 150-year-old technique produces an extra-fine twist with a Cashwool™ finish, resulting in a lightweight knit with a luxe hand, light luster and smooth texture.
“We don’t design clothes that are simply scaled down from industry sizes,” said Luu. “Starting from scratch, we created clothes that men want to wear but are tailored to their height and weight. We took measurements from men all around the country – because not every man 5'9" and under is built the same. With that data we were able to design our shirts and sweaters to fit these guys better. Then we put our spin on the latest trends and closet classics and utilized a panel of customers to give us their feedback on what they wanted to see go into production. The result is Jax Everett’s shirts and sweaters.”
