“Mindfulness practice has long been associated with lower stress, higher self-esteem and greater well-being for students and adults. With more than 100 IMTA-Certified Mindfulness Teachers, hiring organizations can visit the IMTA Teacher Directory to find qualified mindfulness teachers for their programs,” said the IMTA President Dawa Tarchin Phillips. “In addition, aspiring teachers looking to complete their teacher training can take advantage of the IMTA Program Directory to find an IMTA-Accredited Mindfulness Teacher Training Program (AMTTP).”
Mindfulness teachers who have successfully completed an IMTA-accredited program are encouraged to gain recognition of their skills and expertise by applying to become a provisional Certified Mindfulness Teacher, Professional Level (CMT-P). IMTA Credentialing Tracks & Application Process
The IMTA
offers an accreditation track for educational organizations and a
professional certification track for individual teachers. Candidates
interested in certification or accreditation may submit applications on the
IMTA website. The IMTA’s Credentialing Committee will review
applications related to a core set of competency areas. Once
credentialed, recipients will receive a seal illustrating their
designation (CMT-P for individuals and AMTTP for programs), and a
listing in the IMTA’s online directory of accredited programs and
certified teachers.
