PRLog - Jan. 2, 2014 - HARVARD, Mass. -- AirlineCareer.com, a leader in online flight attendant career information, announced today that it predicts that airlines will hire a record number of flight attendants in 2014. This trend, which began in 2013, is a change from the hiring posture of most airlines. For the past several years, airlines have been searching for ways to cut costs in order to increase their bottom line. One of the methods used was to cut the work force, but now airlines are reversing that trend.

Many airlines began actively hiring during the latter half of 2013, when several airlines announced plans for future growth due to increased profits, route expansion, fleet acquisitions and retirements. Flight attendant hiring reached record levels in 2013. We expect this increase in flight attendant employment to continue through 2014, however, competition for these jobs will be intense. In 2013, Delta received over 40,000 applications for 1,500 flight attendant openings, US Airways received 20,000 applications for 1,000 positions and Southwest received 10,000 applications for 750 vacancies posted on their website (in just two hours).

Many other airlines resumed hiring in 2013 and predict a greater need for new flight attendants in the coming year. Of the 50 airlines that are monitored by AirlineCareer.com, 38 are now actively hiring or are accepting applications in anticipation of future hiring. Upcoming Flight Attendant Open House Interviews are updated and posted on the home page of the AirlineCareer.com website.

According to Joseph Belotti, President of AirlineCareer.com, "We have been contacted by many airlines about their aggressive hiring plans for the coming year. These airlines include Delta, American, SkyWest, Alaska, Spirit, Allegiant and Frontier. We are also monitoring increased hiring activity at many of the international and multi-national carriers including Emirates, Etihad, Singapore, Ryanair, Gulf Air, and Qantas UK. Although many airlines are hiring, competition is intense and we advise all applicants to prepare themselves thoroughly for the interview process before applying to the airlines. Most airlines will require unsuccessful applicants to wait six to twelve months before reapplying."
