Geoff Notkin Wraps Up Wildly Successful Exhibit at Tucson Gem Show

By: PRLog
PRLog - Feb. 27, 2014 - TUCSON, Ariz. -- World-renowned meteorite expert Geoff Notkin lived up to billing as one of the most sought-after and respected meteorite dealers during the 2014 Tucson gem show.  It was his 16th consecutive appearance at the internationally acclaimed event, held each year in February.

Setting up shop for nearly three weeks in a suite at the Hotel Tucson City Center, Notkin’s commercial meteorite company, Aerolite Meteorites, presented a spectacular and diverse display of meteorites – rocks that originate in outer space and fall to Earth’s surface.

Also on hand at the gem show was Steve Arnold, Geoff’s co-star for three seasons on the hit television series Meteorite Men.  Notkin now hosts the Arizona-based educational TV series The STEM Journals.

Among the visitors and buyers at the Aerolite showroom were representatives of the National Dinosaur Museum in Australia, London’s Natural History Museum, the SaurierMuseum in Switzerland, the Arizona Museum of Natural History, and the Catalina Sky Survey.  Dr. Laurence Garvie, Dr. Meenakshi Wadhwa, and Dr. Carleton Moore of the Arizona State University Center for Meteorite Studies also paid a visit to the Aerolite display, as did faculty from the University of Arizona.

Numerous media members stopped in to speak with Notkin, including staff from the Tucson EZ-Guide and Tucson Mineral magazines.  Arizona Illustrated filmed an interview with Notkin, which aired on a number of Arizona Public Media outlets and is available to view online on the KUAT website at:  http://playpbs.azpm.org/video/2365179051.

If you missed Notkin’s appearance at this year’s gem show, you can visit his meteorite collection online 24/7 at www.aerolite.org to see the latest additions, meteorite jewelry, museum-grade meteorites, the exclusive Notkin collection and more.  The website hit an impressive milestone on February 21, 2014 surpassing five million visitors since its inception.

In two weeks, Notkin resumes filming Season 3 of The STEM Journals, a fast-paced TV series featuring cutting-edge science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) stories from across Arizona.  The new season begins airing in April on Cox channels 7 and 1007 in Arizona, On DEMAND in the FreeZone on Cox Cable, on the Cox7 app (iOS and Android), the Roku® streaming box, and worldwide on www.cox7.com.

Fans of The STEM Journals are invited to meet Geoff Notkin in person on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at a free event hosted by Cox Creative Studios, 17602 N. Black Canyon Freeway in Phoenix.  The family-friendly event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. will explore the science and technology that fuels The STEM Journals and Cox telecommunications services.   For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/Cox7TheStemJournals.
