2014 ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools Available

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) has released the ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools, 2014 edition—the only official comprehensive source of information for prospective dental school applicants about the 65 U.S. and 10 Canadian dental education schools.

“The ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools provides students, their families and advisors with the most accurate and comprehensive information available about pursuing a career in dentistry,” says Dr. Ruth Bingham, President-Elect, National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, and Director of Student Academic Services for the Colleges of Arts & Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. “It is an essential resource, not only for those who are applying to dental schools but for academic advisors and anyone considering a career in dentistry.”

The guide, published by ADEA for more than five decades, offers helpful information for choosing the right dental school, and for preparing and applying to dental school. The guide also provides details on what schools look at when selecting applicants, information on diversity in schools, tips for writing a dental school application essay, the cost of financing a dental school education and much more.

Beyond the statistical data and dental school information, the guide also profiles 10 students from dental schools in North America. The students discuss their decision to choose the dental profession as a career path, their goals, externships and experiences. Advice for high school students on what classes they should take before they graduate to best prepare themselves for a dental school education is also provided. The guide also shows dental school applicants how to use the ADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service, known as ADEA AADSAS, a centralized application service for completing one application form to apply to any dental school.

The ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools is available in print and online. At only $10 per copy, the convenient, easy-to-use online access version is a popular option among prospective students. The online access version is searchable and includes links to dental school websites and other resources. The print version of the guide costs $35 or $29 per printed copy on orders of 10 or more. The guide can be ordered on the ADEA website at www.adea.org/OGDS or contact the ADEA Publications at publications@adea.org or 202-289-7201.
