Dr. Maya Warren “The Ice Cream Doctor” and Mona B. Lipson Hit the Nation’s Sweet Spot with the Ice Cream for Change Movement

Dr. Maya Warren, known as “The Ice Cream Doctor” and the face of ice cream, alongside Mona B. Lipson, AKA Miss Mona Makes Ice Cream, today reveal Ice Cream for Change, a community of ice cream makers and enthusiasts advocating for social change and civic action.

On National Ice Cream Day (7/19) Ice Cream for Change is bringing together the ice cream community- scoop shops, ice cream brands, and home ice cream makers to raise funds for nonprofit organizations committed to dismantling structural and systemic racism faced by Black people in America.

“I live, breathe, and eat everything ice cream and see firsthand how it has no barriers - it’s loved by people of all races, genders, and backgrounds around the world,” said Dr. Maya. “We’re so proud that ice cream makers across the nation have agreed to participate. Our dream for Ice Cream for Change is that this platform will help raise money and awareness for vital issues all year long. We believe ice cream is in season 365 days a year, and so is our responsibility to step up and take action.”

Ice Cream for Change has enlisted ice cream makers across the U.S to help raise funds on July 19th, including Caffè Panna, Coolhaus, Mikey Likes it Ice Cream, Van Leeuwen, Vida’s Brooklyn, Eb & Bean, Izzy’s Ice Cream and more.

“We hope people who love ice cream and want to support local businesses will come out and help amplify the voices that need to be heard,” said Mona Lipson. “Of course, our aim is for people to make this happen safely and keep all social distancing orders in place, so our efforts on National Ice Cream Day can also be made responsibly.”

Scoop shops, ice cream makers and avid ice cream eaters can visit www.icecreamforchange.org to sign-up and find participating locations.
