LifeLock's(R) Identity Theft Protection Services Now Available at Best Buy

In an effort to provide consumers with stronger safeguards to protect their identities, LifeLock® has united with Best Buy to present the first-ever retail package for identity theft protection. On shelves on October 26, consumers are now able to purchase LifeLocks industry-leading identity theft protection from Best Buy, allowing LifeLock to take the necessary steps to protect personal information and to provide its $1 million Total Service Guarantee.

Consumers across America can now purchase LifeLocks Identity Theft Protection One-Year Membership Kit with the same ease as they would purchase tax or online tutorial software. Available through Best Buys Web site (www.BestBuy.com) and on retail shelves, the kit costs $99 and features a one-year LifeLock membership card. The package also comes with a tutorial DVD filled with powerful information on how to best protect your identity, including the FTCs Deter, Detect, Defend video, and a handbook and checklist to guide consumers on ways to keep their personal information safe. The kits one year of service goes into effect when consumers activate it with the unique code found on their membership cards. Each kit also comes with a video that walks people through the activation process.

By offering our services to consumers in a traditional retail environment, we have the potential to reach more people and enable them to take control of their own identities with powerful tools they may not otherwise come in contact with, says LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. This new protection kit gives buyers one year of our services, but it also goes a long way in educating consumers about the risks that lead to identity theft.

Identity theft has become the number-one crime in the nation, passing up drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. This fast-growing crime is costing Americans more than $1.2 billion annually, and the length of time a victim invests in clearing their good name can be up to three or more months, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

As the industry leader in identity theft protection, LifeLock requests on behalf of its clients that the national credit bureaus place fraud alerts on its members credit files, and requests that members names be removed from pre-approved credit card offer and junk mail lists. Members are also entitled to LifeLocks WalletLock, eRecon and TrueAddress services. WalletLock works to cancel and replace all documents and personal identifying information inside a wallet if it is lost or stolen. eRecon is a regular patrol of the Internet in search of social security numbers, credit card numbers, drivers license numbers and email addresses of LifeLock members to protect against the information being illegally traded or sold online. LifeLocks TrueAddress service searches to see if members have had a change of address form filed and alert them to ensure they are aware of the change. The companys services are backed by a $1 million total service guarantee.
