Rite Aid and HealthSpot Announce Plans to Pilot HealthSpot Stations

Rite Aid announced today it has entered into an agreement with HealthSpot®, a pioneer in patient and provider driven healthcare technology, to provide convenient healthcare services via private, walk-in HealthSpot stations inside select Rite Aid locations. Rite Aid will pilot the HealthSpot stations in the greater Akron/Canton, Cleveland and Dayton/Springfield markets.

“The healthcare landscape continues to evolve and Rite Aid is committed to providing the communities and customers we serve with innovative services to help them live and stay well,” said Rite Aid’s Executive Vice President of Pharmacy Robert I. Thompson. “Adding HealthSpot stations serves as a natural extension of our existing suite of health and wellness services and offers people an alternative solution to accessing quality healthcare in a familiar, professional and convenient setting.”

Visitors to the HealthSpot station will be able to connect with a network of board-certified medical professionals such as Cleveland Clinic and other major health systems across Ohio through the HealthSpot Network. This broad network of providers enables clinicians to extend their reach into local communities and serve more patients with expanded hours through HealthSpot stations. Most insurances will be accepted.

HealthSpot stations offer customers convenient access to high-quality, medical care from board certified medical providers using high-definition videoconferencing and interactive medical devices. Using the HealthSpot station, customers can be treated for minor and common health conditions, including cold and flu, rashes and skin conditions, eye conditions, earaches and seasonal allergies. A record of the visit is maintained, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care.

“With telehealth expected to play a leading role in the delivery of healthcare in the future, we believe our HealthSpot stations offer a unique solution, delivering healthcare services more conveniently and cost effectively than ever before,” said HealthSpot CEO Steve Cashman. “By working with Rite Aid, a trusted member of communities across Ohio, as well as providers and payers, we are reimagining the way healthcare is delivered in a retail setting.”
