I want people to know that lymphoma doesn’t have to be a death sentence for their dog. There are so many options available to help treat the disease and give dogs a great quality of life. We just need to make owners aware of their choices.

Los Angeles, CA – My Friend: Changing the Journey, a groundbreaking documentary on canine lymphoma will premiere on November 1, 2014. The premiere is part of the CLEAR (Canine Lymphoma Education Awareness and Research) 2nd Annual Fundraiser to be held at Vertigo Event Venue in Glendale, CA. The film, produced by CLEAR intertwines expert analysis from renowned canine oncologists with three powerful stories of owners and their dogs as they fight this devastating disease.

“I want people to know that lymphoma doesn’t have to be a death sentence for their dog.  There are so many options available to help treat the disease and give dogs a great quality of life.  We just need to make owners aware of their choices,” says, Terry Simons, founder of CLEAR, an internationally ranked dog agility competitor, dog trainer and former Animal Planet host.

CLEAR is a 501(c)(3) corporation, was founded two years ago by Mr. Simons when his heart and soul dog, Reveille, was diagnosed with lymphoma on November 23, 2011 and subsequently passed on December 1, 2012. The foundation’s mission is to create a greater awareness of canine lymphoma while helping to educate dog owners of prevention, options and that lymphoma is not a death sentence.

Canine lymphoma is important to dog owners as it one of the most common cancers in dogs, with an estimated 300,000 cases diagnosed annually in the United States. Lymphoma is also one of the most treatable cancers, but without treatment, a dog may dies within a few weeks. Standard chemotherapy treatment is effective for up to 85% of dogs and 50% of those dogs will have extended quality life for at least nine months. However, opinion leaders estimate that fewer than 10,000 dogs diagnosed with lymphoma receive treatment.
