Rockwell Automation today announced a $40,000 donation to the United Way’s India COVID-19 Relief Fund.
“Our team members, business partners, communities and customers in India are deeply impacted by this wave of infections. Our hearts go out to all of them and their families during these dire times,” said Patricia Contreras, vice president, Public Affairs.
The United Way’s India COVID-19 Relief Fund will provide immediate assistance in the form of medical equipment for hospitals, including oxygen supplies, ventilators, beds, BiPAP machines and more. The fund will also supply hygiene and food kits to prevent further spread of the virus.
India has reported more than 20 million coronavirus infections, with nearly 3.5 million people being actively treated. The country's health system is overwhelmed, with dire shortages of beds, oxygen supplies, and medical equipment.
Rockwell Automation has 1,500 employees in India, including many who have continued to work remotely throughout the course of the pandemic. The company is sending oxygen supplies and taking strict precautions to keep them healthy.
Last week, the company announced a separate charitable investment in a campaign to fight COVID vaccine hesitancy.
