On April 28, 2011, Exelon sent the following communication to certain of its employees:
Note from Sonny Garg to all Exelon Power employees
Dear Colleagues:
Hopefully by now, everyone has heard the news that Exelon has agreed to merge with Constellation Energy Group. This is an exciting development for Exelon and for us specifically in Power. Through the merger with Constellation, were joining an excellent company that fits well with our direction and our commitment to clean, competitive markets. Well be adding 4,000 megawatts to Powers portfolio and expanding our presence into new territories.
For employees in Power, I expect this transaction to have minimal impact and, unlike in past potential mergers, we will not be divesting any of Exelon Powers assets. Exelon Power will remain headquartered in Kennett Square and Exelon Wind will remain headquartered in West Des Moines. There will be merger-related changes to other parts of Generation. Specifically, Exelon Nuclear will now be headquartered in Kennett Square and the Power Team and Exelon Energy will relocate to Baltimore.
Exelon Power is no stranger to transition, with the recent changes of leadership, retirement of our units and the acquisition of Exelon Wind. In each of these instances, the employees of Power have continued to answer the call and perform at an exceptional level and Im certain that will continue in this instance. Together as a team, we need to continue to deliver on our operational, safety, environmental and financial commitments, and to move forward with our timetable for the retirement of our units at Cromby and Eddystone, the relicensing of Conowingo and Muddy Run, and the development of three wind projects in Michigan.
Obviously, there are many details to work through in the coming months and I commit to keeping the lines of communication open throughout. As we stress with our Answering the Call efforts, the lines of communication must flow in both directions. I encourage you to offer feedback and ask questions and we will make sure answers are forthcoming.
Thank you for your continued focus on Exelon Powers success.
Sincerely,
Sonny
