HackerNoon, the independent tech publishing platform, is pleased to announce a new writing contest centered around Ethereum. Sponsored by DeGate, a ZK-rollup order book DEX on Ethereum, the #ethereum Writing Contest invites crypto natives, economists, social scientists, and writers to share their thoughts on Ethereum’s impact on the financial domain.
“Ethereum’s integral to the recent history of the internet because it’s open and integrable technology at the intersection of programming and finance,” said HackerNoon Founder/CEO David Smooke. “In publishing 2,800+ Ethereum blog posts over the years, we have covered $ETH as currency, but moreso as a technology, community and movement. Excited to read more Ethereum stories from founders, philosophers, economists, developers and buidlers on HackerNoon.”
The contest will run for 3 months starting July 15, with $1,000 to be awarded in total to winners. The contest welcomes submissions under the following themes:
-
For the Crypto Natives: Entries discussing why Ethereum is considered a leader in achieving the balance of decentralization, scalability, and security. Further entries exploring how Layer 2 solutions enhance Ethereum’s scalability while maintaining trustlessness are also welcome.
-
For the Economists: Entries analyzing how Ethereum's decentralized and trustless nature forms the backbone of a new global financial system. Reflections on the evolution of financial systems and how Ethereum offers a more resilient alternative equally welcome.
-
For the Social Scientists: Entries examining how a decentralized finance system, where individuals control their assets, influences governance, power structures, and individual freedoms. Stories on how the concept of trust is redefined in the finance arena as a result of Ethereum are also highly encouraged.
The #ethereum Writing Contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 with no location restrictions. As with all HackerNoon writing contests, multiple entries are both valid and encouraged as the same author can win more than one prize following the vote tally.
The #ethereum Writing Contest is the latest in a series of writing contests designed to help authors monetize their expertise and give back to the tech community.
The top 10 story submissions with the most reads will be voted on by HackerNoon staff and the top 3 stories with the most votes will win cash prizes.
All submissions are viewable on the #Ethereum technology tag.
For the last 5+ years, HackerNoon’s had a quote from Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin atop their official blockchain technology hub: “Whereas most technologies tend to automate workers on the periphery doing menial tasks, blockchains automate away the center. Instead of putting the taxi driver out of a job, blockchain puts Uber out of a job and lets the taxi drivers work with the customer directly.”
