Fourth of July Jubilee and more at Morven

PRINCETON, N.J. - June 10, 2022 - PRLog -- Come to Morven on Independence Day for our Fourth of July Jubilee, a celebration of our American heritage at the home-turned-museum of Richard Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. We are delighted to once again have an in-person gathering after a hiatus of several years due to the pandemic. This year we are swinging back to the 1960's in celebration of our current exhibition, Ma Bell: The Mother of Invention in NJ.

Come by from 12 to 3 p.m. for a celebration featuring the Arts Council of Princeton providing a Jasper Johns inspired American Flag activity, the Historical Society of Princeton with a 1960's Princeton adventure, live dancing in the gardens with the Luminarium Dance Company, and live music with the Green Planet Band.

Family tickets are available for $25 to view the museum galleries, our historic gardens are open, and food trucks will be on premises, including Kona Ice and Potato Potato. On Thurs, July 14 at 6:30 p.m., come to Morven for the book launch of "The Education of Betsey Stockton." Author Gregory Nobles will discuss his latest book in conversation with Morven's Curator of Exhibitions & Collections and Deputy Director Elizabeth Allan. Visitors can visit the galleries prior to the lecture, and books will be available for purchase for $25 and for signing following the program. In-person tickets are $20 for General Admission, $15 for Members. Virtual tickets are $10 for General Admission, $5 for Members.

Doors open for in-person guests at 6:00 p.m. with light refreshments in the Stockton Education Center. A Zoom link will be shared the day of the program for virtual ticket holders. This program is being held with the collaboration of the Princeton Theological Seminary's Betsey Stockton Center for Black Church Studies and is hosted by local historian Shirley Satterfield, President of the Witherspoon-Jackson Historical and Cultural Society.

Come to Morven's Pool House for a Musical Summer Evening with the Ragtime Relics on Thurs, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. The Ragtime Relics perform vintage American music that spans several genres and decades including ragtime, pre-war blues, jazz age, early country, swing era, bluegrass, and early rock & roll - featuring some of America's most memorable songs from the early 20th Century. Tickets are $15 General Admission, $10 for Members. Bring your own blanket or chair.

On Thurs, July 28 at 6:30 p.m., spend an evening with AT&T's Corporate Historian Dr. Sheldon Hochheiser, discovering the six transformational AT&T innovations, many of which were created in NJ: The Telephone, The High Vacuum Tube Amplifier, Sound Motion Pictures, The Transistor, Communications Satellites, and the Cellular Telephone. In-person tickets are $20 for General Admission, $15 for Members. Virtual tickets are $10 for General Admission, $5 for Members.

The Museum will be open from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. where you may meet Curators of the Ma Bell exhibit, Elizabeth Allan and Jesse Gordon, inside the galleries. Doors open for in-person guests at 6:00 p.m. with light refreshments in the Stockton Education Center. A Zoom link will be shared the day of the program for virtual ticket holders.
