Charlotte Area Nonprofit Hosts Third Annual Walk and Community Wellness Fair with a Focus on Improving the Quality of Care Women and Infants
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Oct. 12, 2021 - PRLog -- In recognition of National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, Jace's Journey will host its 3rd Annual 5k Run/Walk and Fun Run Saturday, October 23, 2021. After a virtual run in 2020, this year's event will return to in-person and will also host a Community Wellness Fair. The event will be held at 10101 David Taylor Dr, located in the University Research Park.
Jace's Journey, Inc. is a nonprofit organization formed by Brandon and Tomeka Isaac, a Charlotte couple that experienced an infant loss in May 2018. Jace Alexander was delivered prematurely with no fetal heartbeat as Tomeka was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome, a disorder of the liver and blood. As the Isaac's later found out, the condition can be treated with proper diagnosis and prevent sickness or death.
The Isaac's created Jace's Journey, Inc. to honor their son and raise awareness and contribute to improving maternal and fetal healthcare disparities. The Isaacs' experience with the misdiagnosis drives their passion to ensure that every birthing person receives equitable care. Since forming the organization, they have collaborated with several organizations to share their vision. They have been a part of the 2020 and 2021 It Takes a Village Community Baby Shower and are partnering with 21st MD to revamp the Zero Mother's Die app to support women across the United States.
Registration for the walk and wellness fair can be completed at http://www.jacesjourney.org. Event day registration begins at seven o'clock in the morning with the walk and wellness fair beginning at eight o'clock and 10 o'clock, respectively. More information about the organization and how to show support can also be found on the website.

Proceeds from the race will help support programs and initiatives, such as: A Doula from Jace - providing families with doula support from prenatal to postpartum; doula scholarships in partnership with Wise Community Doula, Sisters in Loss and P.A.I.L. Advocates; and housing assistance for families with an unexpected financial loss.
