Chicago, Illinois Jan 25, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - The Chicago Horror Film Festival was founded by author and horror fan, Jason R Davis back in 2003. To this day, CHFF continues to be a tradition of Chicago featuring local and international filmmakers with over 300 indie films submitted for this year and with more to come. In all the years of its existence, CHFF has "Gorified" the renowned theaters of Chicago, including The Patio Theater, The Des Plaines Theater, and The Portage Theater.
For its 20th year anniversary, CJ Vecchio, an award-winning horror writer, director, and Chicagoan is all set to take over the 24th season of the Chicago Horror Film Festival. CJ Vecchio is known for writing amazing horror movies with eye-opening characters and a superb atmospheres. Some of the most renowned films by CJ Vecchio include "The Attic", "Evil's Revenge", "Make A Wish", "Bee-El", and his feature fan film "The Evil Three" (still in post) along with a handful of terrifying screenplays ready to be made.
CJ Vecchio makes use of classic horror elements and principles to strike fear into the hearts of the viewers. His movies are relatable to everyone, making them even more impactful. While talking about the CHFF, CJ Vecchio said: "We get films submitted to us from around the world, not just from Chicago. I'm looking to take CHFF to the next level in helping indie filmmakers take their next step and help promote their talent. Being an indie horror writer and director, I understand the struggles of all indie filmmakers. I aim to support them and to provide them
with an ideal platform where they can showcase their skills."
CJ's plans will be updating the CHFF website, taking its social media platforms to the next level, and launching a YouTube channel to showcase the filmmakers who submit to the CHFF. CJ Vecchio said " We're currently in talks with a few possible venues to host the 2023 festival, which is set for September of this year. My focus is venues that can be easily accessible to fans and filmmakers, either by car and public transportation."
Joe Reilly, director of the indie short hit, The Lake Parasite, commented: "It's refreshing to see such a great festival being handed off to someone who has a proven track record with filmmaking and horror. The CHFF is in great hands."
Bret Lada, actor and director of the film festival award-winning The Andy Baker Tapes (coming soon to StreamBox), commented: "It's only fitting that the indie king of horror, CJ Vecchio, is taking over the reigns to this fantastic festival. His dedication to the genre is unmatched and I can't wait to see what he does with it. CJ has been a power house in the indie horror community the last few years and I'm super excited for him and the Chicago Horror Film Festivals future."
The CHFF had previously been owned by Willy Adkins (Spook Show Entertainment / Breaking Fate Entertainment) "It's only fitting that the indie king of horror, CJ Vecchio, is taking over the reins to this fantastic festival. His dedication to the genre is unmatched and I can't wait to see what he does with it.". Since 2010, Adkins has worked tirelessly to elevate CHFF to heights. In 2019, Adkins announced his intention of finding a new owner and director for CHFF, and now, for 2023, Plan-C Entertainment, along with CJ Vecchio takes the helm.
