ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS
On October 3, 2006, Celanese Corporation (“the Company”) issued a press release announcing
that the Company had declared a cash dividend of $0.265625 on its 4.25% convertible perpetual
preferred stock and a cash dividend of $0.04 on its Series A common stock. Both cash dividends are
for the period August 1, 2006 and ending on and including October 31, 2006 and are payable on
November 1, 2006 to holders of record as of October 15, 2006. A copy of the press release is
attached to this Current Report as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein solely for purposes of
this Item 8.01.
