US economy added 254,000 jobs in September, well above expectations

The Labor Department reported that U.S. employers added 254,000 jobs in September, well above economists' expectations, while the unemployment rate declined to 4.1%.

The Labor Department on Friday reported that employers added 254,000 jobs in September, well above the 140,000 gain that was predicted by LSEG economists.

The unemployment rate declined slightly from a month ago at 4.1%.
