Gilat Awarded $30 Million Project by Peru’s Fitel in Support of the
Integracion Amazonica Loreto Initiative
- Project includes deployment and operation of microwave infrastructure and wireless service
to 70 communities along the most remote section of the Amazonas River in Peru -
PETAH TIKVA, Israel, 19 December 2013 – Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq:GILT), a worldwide leader in satellite networking technology, solutions and services, today announced that it has been awarded a project valued at $30 million as part of the Integracion Amazonica Loreto initiative. The contract for the project is expected to be signed shortly.
The majority of the award is for the design, setup and implementation of the network, which is expected to be executed within the first year. The remainder is for the operation and maintenance of the network for a period of ten years.
In this project, Gilat will implement a high-capacity broadband network between Iquitos and the town of Isla Santa Rosa, to enable internet and telephony services for the inhabitants in 70 communities in the Loreto region.
