Measles is Reappearing in Phoenix. Here’s How You Can Stay Safe

By: NewsUSA

(Matthew Du, NewsUSA Reporter) - Maricopa County confirms that there have been reported measles cases after a visitor diagnosed with the disease arrived in the area. Measles is a contagious disease that leads to fever and rashes. It can quickly escalate into life-threatening complications. The illness can be prevented by vaccines. These vaccines usually have two doses, done in childhood.

Here's how you can stay protected:

1. Check your vaccine history and update it if necessary. This is the most vital option for community immunity.

2. Sanitize properly especially if you are outdoors. Viruses are better killed through soap and water than alcohol.

3. Take note of any measles cases in your vicinity and contact your health center if you think you may be infected.
