On October 5, 2008, Reliant Energy, Inc. appointed Joel V. Staff, 64, as executive chairman of the Board. Mr. Staff previously served as non-executive chairman since May 2007 and served as chairman and chief executive officer of Reliant Energy from April 2003 to May 2007. The material compensation arrangements provided to Mr. Staff in connection with the appointment will be reported in an amendment to this Current Report on Form 8-K when the information becomes available.
