Canadian Author Releases Moving New Book Revealing the Links between Mental Health and Entrepreneurship

By: Get News
This book isn’t just for entrepreneurs. It’s relative to anyone battling clinical depression, suicidal thoughts, or any other mental health disorder — including their caregivers.

Wayde Greer, a mental health advocate, speaker, and author, releases his new book, “Success or Suicide?”, on Amazon. The small-town Canadian-born author has made a significant impact on the world stage by discussing raw and real details of his failed business venture and failed suicide attempts, along with his month-long stay in a mental health unit.

“Seventy-two percent of entrepreneurs are affected by mental health conditions. The only way we will end the stigma is by talking about it in real terms—no sugar coating. Raw and real!” shared Greer.

The award-winning entrepreneur’s business endeavors began in 2008 with the launch of The Mulligan Club, a regionalized golf discount card, which he began selling from the trunk of his car. He then founded Canada’s only free golf driving range, as a marketing engine for his discount card. “How do you find golfers?” Greer says, “you make what they love … free!”

From his mom’s basement, Greer co-created, produced and starred in the television series “Highways to Fairways,” which originally aired on TVTropolis (2011) and was rebooted by Canada’s leading sports network, TSN (2017), and Amazon Prime in the U.S. and U.K (2019). He was the executive producer for two full-length primetime television documentaries. And he established the inaugural broadcast deal for The Joe Carter Classic, one of Canada’s most renowned celebrity charity sporting events.

Greer has hosted a televised sit-down interview with Morgan Freeman. His film crew recorded a private batting practice for Charlie Sheen, alongside the Toronto Blue Jays. He has produced interviews with Dr. J, Charles Barkley, Bo Jackson, Ozzie Smith, and many more sports Hall-of-Famers. He even produced a video in honor of Gordie Howe’s 86th birthday for sons Mark and Marty.

In 2017, Greer tried to kill himself twice. People might think his life, up to that point was a success, but bankruptcy and clinical depression changed everything. His life (and book), however, are not a sob story. It is an open discussion about mental health, woven together by his true story. It is about getting help, step by step. Today, Greer’s mission is to support entrepreneurs across the globe through his speaker series, Laugh. Cry. Learn.

“With the right partners, I feel we have an opportunity to make a real impact!” says Greer. “All speaker event attendees will receive a free hard copy of my book as part of their event admission fee. If they already have a book, admission is $10 off. The key is to make it affordable so everyone can attend,” he concludes. Check out upcoming events here: https://www.waydegreer.com/about
