To: WellCare Employees
From: Michael Neidorff
Subject: WellCare and Centene Announcement Today
Dear WellCare Employees,
On behalf of my colleagues at Centene, we look forward to welcoming WellCare to the Centene family. We have long admired the WellCare organization, and are honored to have you join us as we work to create a premier healthcare enterprise focused on government-sponsored programs and a leader in Medicaid, Medicare and the Health Insurance Marketplace.
This combination brings together WellCares high-quality Medicare platform with Centenes robust Medicaid offerings. Together, we will have increased scale, meaningful product diversification and the opportunity to better serve members, help them achieve better health outcomes and drive growth. Centene will be able to serve members in Hawaii, Kentucky and New Jersey, and gain an enhanced presence in Michigan. WellCare will expand its footprint into California and Ohio, and gain a significantly larger footprint in New York. In short, together we will be able to provide more comprehensive and differentiated solutions, across the whole country with a continued focus on affordable, high-quality, culturally-sensitive healthcare services.
In reaching this agreement, I have had the good fortune to learn more about WellCare, and it is clear to me that Centene and WellCare share many important values, particularly a belief that quality healthcare is best delivered locally. We also share a strong commitment to the communities in which our employees and members live and work. This cultural alignment will help to ensure this transaction is successful.
I would also like to take this opportunity to emphasize that a critical factor to the success of this transaction is you. Your commitment to members and to providing affordable high-quality care is the foundation of all that WellCare has achieved, and all that Centene and WellCare will achieve together. Like WellCare, Centene has a strong track record of executing strategic transactions, and we are confident that this process will be no different. While it is still early in this process, we know that successfully bringing our two companies together will require a thoughtful and comprehensive integration plan. We look forward to meeting and working with members of the WellCare team on these efforts.
Until then, let me reiterate the excitement of the collective Centene team and thank you in advance for all of your great work on behalf of the members you serve.
Sincerely,
Michael Neidorff
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
