Born and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Dr. Hensel has always been a very active guy. When he wasn't playing sports, he was in the woods or on one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor from the University of Minnesota Duluth. After completing his undergraduate degree, he still wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do so he accepted a full-time position with the Longshoreman's Union.
Over the summers of his undergrad, he worked there unloading ships, so taking a full-time position was a simple transition. However, the longer hours really took a toll on him. Back pain and headaches began affecting both his work and sleep habits, and his roommate's dad was a chiropractor and suggested that he get adjusted.
Tired of pounding ibuprofen and not feeling well, Dr. Hensel decided to try it. He noticed a remarkable decrease in pain after just one adjustment. He began utilizing chiropractic care on a more regular basis and was able to completely alleviate all of his initial symptoms. He was so impressed with the level of care and the results he experienced that he decided to attend chiropractic school at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota.
While in chiropractic school, he pursued specialty classes in applied kinesiology, functional medicine, and nutrition on top of the regular curriculum. He continues to take many continuing education courses to further his education and skills as a healthcare provider. He recently completed a 48-hour nutritional seminar to learn more about treating chronic illnesses and determining an individual's daily nutritional supplementation needs.
