TalkTalk Prioritises Digital Inclusion with Affordable Broadband for Low-Income Families

By: Get News

TalkTalk is reinforcing its commitment to digital inclusion by offering affordable, high-speed broadband services to low-income households across the UK. In 2024, TalkTalk introduced the Fibre for All programme, which provides broadband packages starting at just £15 per month for qualifying families. According to a 2024 report from Ofcom, TalkTalk now serves over 3 million households, with 15% of those in lower-income brackets benefitting from discounted rates.

TalkTalk’s Fibre 65 and Fibre 150 packages offer speeds of up to 150Mbps, making them ideal for households that rely on broadband for education, work, and access to essential online services. The company’s partnership with Universal Credit has enabled it to offer additional discounts to families receiving financial assistance. TalkTalk has connected over 500,000 low-income households to broadband through its Fibre for All programme since its launch, and plans are in place to extend this offering to 1 million households by 2026.

To further enhance digital inclusion, TalkTalk has launched free digital skills workshops in partnership with local councils. These workshops aim to help families make the most of their broadband connections by teaching essential digital skills such as online security, digital literacy, and navigating online services. Over 25,000 individuals have benefited from these workshops in 2023 alone, empowering them to participate more fully in the digital world.

In alignment with the UK government’s Project Gigabit, TalkTalk has invested in expanding its full-fibre network to underserved areas. The company’s ongoing partnership with infrastructure providers like CityFibre and Openreach will enable it to connect an additional 3 million homes to its full-fibre network by 2025. This expansion is crucial in ensuring that low-income households have access to the same high-quality broadband services as the rest of the UK population.

By focusing on affordability, digital inclusion, and education, TalkTalk is playing a key role in bridging the digital divide in the UK, ensuring that every household has the opportunity to benefit from the digital economy.
