Item 8.01 Other Events.
El Paso Electric Company (“the Company”) announced on July 8, 2005 that it is asking the Public Utility Commission of Texas (“PUCT”) for authority to increase the fuel factor charge included in its electric rates and collect from customers previously under-collected fuel expense through a surcharge. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this current report on Form 8-K and incorporated herein by reference.
