San Francisco-based Aurora Solar said that 10 million solar sites worldwide have been designed with its platform. The milestone doubles the 5 million mark the company said it reached in April 2021.
The cloud-based platform uses data, automation, and AI to streamline workflows and grow solar businesses. Aurora said that 7,000 solar developers use its software.
Aurora Solar was founded in 2013 by Christopher Hopper and Samuel Adeyemo while students at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
In August 2021, Aurora acquired Folsom Labs to bolster its commercial offerings. Folsom Labs is the developer of HelioScope, a leading software platform for the commercial solar sector.
In 2016, Aurora was awarded $400,000 from the Department of Energy’s SunShot Incubator Program, Technology to Market, Incubator 10.
Three years later, it raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Energize Ventures. Subsequent funding rounds have secured another $500 million from investors that include ICONIQ and Coatue.
In 2020, Aurora’s assessment tool was approved by the California Energy Commission to demonstrate compliance with the CA Title 24 solar mandate.
