Owens Design Adds Technical Advisor to Growing Team

Alex Ko, an experienced engineering manager, will provide both capital equipment design experience and serve as the organization’s “Voice of the Customer”

As an experienced engineering manager with over 25 years of experience in capital equipment design, Alex Ko has joined the Owens Design team as Technical Advisor. His industry tenure includes serving as senior VP of global engineering at Kateeva – an Owens Design customer for many years – and a member of the technical staff at Applied Materials.

In his new role, Ko will provide the company with strategic communications guidance, serve as the internal champion for incorporating the voice of the customer (VOC) into company process and provide both technical and operational insights into the delivery of custom automated equipment solutions, especially those involving laser process automation development.

Owens Design President Bob Fung said Ko’s experience and customer-centric focus brings a valuable layer of fresh perspective and strategic thinking to the Owens team.

“Alex has a proven track record of solutions and insights that make him a great fit for our team,” Fung said.

Ko also brings perspective as a former customer having worked with the Owens team in his role at Kateeva.

Ko earned his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design and Manufacturing from the University of California, Berkeley.

As a Technical Advisor at Owens Design, Ko will focus on:

• Enhancing communication programs for reaching the right customers at the right time
• Incorporating the VOC into Owens Design processes
• Evaluating internal processes for efficiency
• Incorporating his expertise in capital equipment, substrate handling, and display technologies
