Los Angeles, California – The Kitsinian Law Firm, APC has filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court (Case Number 24STCV14953) against the 639-acre Chiquita Canyon Landfill located in Castaic, California representing nearly 500 residents who are affected by the ongoing environmental contamination and health hazard as residents continue to endure noxious odors and health risks, including exposure to cancer-causing benzene released from the Chiquita landfill.
To avoid these toxic and harmful emissions, local residents are frequently forced to remain indoors, significantly impacting their quality of life.

Symptoms reported by affected residents include headache, nausea, skin rashes, and respiratory illnesses. The Chiquita Canyon Landfill has been cited by the EPA for discharging benzene, a hazardous chemical associated with cancer.
In February, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared that the Chiquita Canyon Landfill poses “imminent and substantial danger” to the surrounding communities. Furthermore, on June 4, the EPA confirmed violations of the Federal Clean Air Act.
