The Hanover Insurance Group (THG) Q3 Earnings: What To Expect

Property and casualty insurer The Hanover Insurance Group (NYSE: THG) will be announcing earnings results this Wednesday after the bell. Here’s what to expect.

The Hanover Insurance Group met analysts’ revenue expectations last quarter, reporting revenues of $1.66 billion, up 5.5% year on year. It was a mixed quarter for the company, with a beat of analysts’ EPS estimates but a significant miss of analysts’ book value per share estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting The Hanover Insurance Group’s revenue to grow 6.2% year on year to $1.68 billion, improving from the 3.6% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $4.22 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. The Hanover Insurance Group has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates six times over the last two years.

Looking at The Hanover Insurance Group’s peers in the property & casualty insurance segment, some have already reported their Q3 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Stewart Information Services delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 19.1%, beating analysts’ expectations by 30.8%, and First American Financial reported revenues up 40.7%, topping estimates by 6.2%.
