EXPLANATORY NOTE

     FreeSeas Inc. (the “Company”) hereby amends the Company’s Form 6-K dated June 2, 2008 furnished to the Commission on June 2, 2008 (the “Original Form 6-K”) solely for the purpose of incorporating by reference the Original Form 6-K and the exhibit thereto into the Company’s Registration Statements on Form F-3 (Registration Nos. 333-145098 and 333-149916) filed by the Company under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, to the extent not superseded by documents or reports subsequently filed or furnished.
