About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Turnaround Strategy Drives Rapid Growth For OTC Hearing Aid Company In 2025

Nano Hearing Aids, a leading name in over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids in North America, has announced that they have attained several corporate milestones this year, including being named #115 in Consumer Electronics category on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list.

-- Nano Hearing Aids, under the guidance of their new CEO, Ryan F. Zackon, who joined the company in 2024, has undergone a concerted period of transformation, one focused on improving customer trust, meeting and exceeding all regulatory frameworks, and developing more innovative OTC hearing solutions.

Nano Hearing Aids knows that the OTC sector has been growing rapidly in recent years, driven particularly by consumers in North America. As Grand View Research recently revealed, while the OTC market was valued at $1.12 billion in 2023, it is projected to reach $1.74 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6%.

However, with this growth comes greater responsibility, which is why Nano has been equally focused on building customer relationships and improving their regulatory compliance as they have been on expanding their product lines and embracing new technological innovation.

As a recent report on Yahoo cautioned, while leading names like Nano are dedicated to upholding the FDA’s regulatory standards for OTC hearing aids—and to full transparency with both their consumers and regulatory boards—as the market grows, many consumers are inadvertently purchasing personal sound amplification products, or PSAPs, that are being marketed as OTC aids, but are entirely unregulated and may deliver unsafe levels of amplification that can further damage hearing.

As such, for their part, Nano has sought to further improve their labeling and consumer advice for greater transparency, while also seeking to reduce their prices to bring them closer to the cost of these PSAP devices.

The net result of their concerted turnaround strategy is that the company has had their strongest year yet in terms of product growth, sales, customer approval ratings and regulatory standing.

This impressive streak has been recognized by Inc. 5000—one of the most important metrics of private company success in North America—and has led to their inclusion on the 2025 Inc. 5000. Nano Hearing Aids was named #115 in Consumer Electronics category in America.

“This recognition is a validation of everything our team has worked tirelessly to achieve,” said Ryan Zackon, CEO of Nano Hearing Aids. “We rebuilt Nano from the inside out—restoring trust with regulators, elevating our product standards, and placing our customers at the heart of every decision. To be named to the Inc. 5000 for the first time is a proud and humbling milestone.”

Beyond awards and recognition, Mr. Zackon and the Nano Hearing Aids team continue to look to the future.

The brand now retails six different models of FDA-registered OTC hearing aids that are suitable for perceived mild to moderate hearing loss and that boast both affordable prices and innovative features like Bluetooth audio streaming, built-in dehumidification and nearly invisible fits.

They have plans to continue expanding and refining this range, improving their hearing technology and further surpassing the regulatory benchmarks for OTC hearing solutions.
