About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

ANNKE Releases the Next-Gen Dual-Lens Security Camera FCD800: A New Standard in 4K Seamlessly 180° Panoramic View

ANNKE, a leading home security solution brand, has unveiled its latest 4K 8MP dual-lens outdoor PoE security camera, the FCD800, built on the foundation of its earlier model, the FCD600. Monitoring a large area often means installing multiple cameras and dealing with cluttered wiring, but the FCD800 replaces them all with a single dual-lens unit.

PoE Security Camera

While many dual-lens cameras on the market suffer from visible seams or slight misalignments in their stitched images, the FCD800 delivers a truly seamless panoramic view, merging both lenses into one flawless 180° image.

The FCD800 retains the strengths of the FCD600 while adding significant upgrades. It now features 8MP ultra HD resolution, a 30-meter smart hybrid lighting system, and an AI-triggered active defense suite with a strobe light, 97dB siren, and customizable voice alerts for proactive deterrence. From Dual to One Made Whole, the FCD800 brings panoramic vision, intelligent detection, and active response together in a single device—all without subscription fees.

FCD800 – 4K Dual Lens PoE Camera

180° Ultra-Wide Panoramic Coverage

Compared to traditional security cameras with limited viewing angles, the FCD800 offers a far more expansive field of view. It features dual 1/2.4″ progressive scan CMOS image sensors with 8MP (4096×1860) ultra HD resolution. The two lenses are stitched together to deliver a seamless image with 180° horizontal and 77° vertical coverage—ideal for wide-area scenarios.

Thanks to this panoramic design, the FCD800 can replace multiple conventional cameras, reducing installation complexity and hardware costs while greatly improving surveillance efficiency.

AI Human & Vehicle Detection

A wide field of view is only as good as its intelligence. Powered by ANNKE’s Motion Detection 2.0, the FCD800 uses deep-learning algorithms to accurately identify humans and vehicles while filtering out irrelevant motion such as pets, shadows, or tree movement.

Users can customize detection zones and sensitivity settings via the ANNKE app to tailor protection to their specific needs. Whether monitoring a front porch, or parking area, the FCD800 ensures precise alerts where and when it matters.

Integrated Siren & Strobe light

The FCD800 features a smart dual-light system that automatically switches between IR and white light based on ambient conditions, with a maximum night vision range of 30 meters. Compared to the FCD600’s 20-meter white light range, this upgrade enables stronger nighttime deterrence. Combined with 120 dB WDR technology, the camera captures critical details like faces and license plates—even in high-contrast or low-light environments.

When a suspicious target is detected, the system can automatically trigger a 97 dB siren, flashing white LEDs, and custom voice warnings. Users can also activate these functions remotely through the ANNKE app, enabling real-time intervention before an incident escalates.

Pricing and Activity

The FCD800 is available in ANNKE Global, UK and German stores now with a MSRP of $139.99, £139.99 and €139.99 respectively.
