Item 5.02.       Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

 

On February 11, 2009, James H. Richardson, President of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. (the “Company”), informed the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors that, for personal and family reasons, he is stepping down from his position as President of the Company, effective immediately. Mr. Richardson will continue as a Director of the Company and is expected to become an active long-term consultant to the Company.

 

Mr. Richardson’s operational duties and responsibilities will be assumed by Joel Marcus, Chief Executive Officer, Dean Shigenaga, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Peter Moglia, Chief Investment Officer and John Cunningham, Senior Vice President-Strategic Operations.
