Womens hair loss can be caused by various factors but there are also effective solutions to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth.

December 02, 2022 - Women struggling to find an effective solution for hair loss need not look further. Leading hair loss treatment clinic, Trichology Centre, has recently released a new article on women's hair loss and solutions.

Titled “Women Hair Loss- More Common than Not”, the post has offered detailed insights on the causes and patterns of hair loss in women, as well as the viable solutions for the problem.

According to the article, women's hair loss is usually more complicated than men's hair loss as there could be various reasons behind the problem. These include around 30 medical conditions, ranging from poor nutrition, genetics, hormones, menopause, pregnancy, lifestyle factors, and more. Thyroid issues and hormonal imbalance pay a major role as well.

When it comes to female alopecia, there are various patterns, such as androgenetic hair loss (AGA) / female pattern hair loss (FPHL) and chronic telogen effluvium (CTC).  Among all these, the most common one is AGA. This form of hair loss is characterized by slow but progressive diffused hair loss all over the scalp area. The most common factors behind the problem are genetics and hormones. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the most common hormone behind hair loss.   Other factors that might lead to the problem are nutrition, age, environment, and so on.

Telogen effluvium (TE) is another type of hair loss condition in women. This is a temporary hair loss condition which happens due to transitory increase in the number of hairs in the resting phase of the cycles in hair growth. The problem can be caused by several factors such as   physical trauma, surgery, high fever/illness, significant psychological stress, menopause, extreme change in diet, and more. The problem resolves within 3-6 months. If the problem lasts longer than 6 months, then it is called Chronic Telogen effluvium (CTE).

Regarding treatment for women's hair loss, Trichology Centre in Toronto mostly recommends treatments for FPHL. It’s a non-surgical combination therapy that combines a bunch of treatments into one single powerful treatment.

“We offer a wide range of highly effective hair loss treatments for women. All the treatments are customized for each patient for optimum possible results. However, it must be mentioned here that there is no cure for hair loss yet- rather, it’s mostly about maintenance. Thus, our goal is to prevent hair loss as well as stimulate hair regrowth through combination therapy”, stated the leading spokesperson from the clinic.

The clinic also offers several other treatments to combat women's hair loss problems. These include PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, laser therapy, and AAPE stem cell therapy.

Another treatment offered by the clinic is Scalp Micropigmentation. Also known as “hair tattoo”, this treatment involves creating the look of hair follicles on the scalp with the help of ink pigment. The ink pigment is inserted into the scalp through small needles.
