On February 9, 2007, Cooperative Bankshares, Inc. (the "Company") issued a
press release announcing that Frederick Willetts, III, the Company's Chairman
and President, will be a guest speaker at the Southeast 2007 SuperCommunity Bank
Conference on Thursday, February 15, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia. A copy of the
press release is attached to this Report as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated
