On June 6, 2023, Wilton Reassurance confirmed that an unauthorized actor gained access to its customers' sensitive information between May 29, 2023 and May 30, 2023. The unauthorized accessed occurred through the use of the MOVEit transfer tool used by Wilton Reassurance's third-party service provider, PBI Research Services. Through a subsequent investigation, Wilton Reassurance determined that the data accessed by cybercriminals included the personal identifying information of approximately 1,482,490 individuals, including their Social Security numbers.
