International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21 every year to promote peace among nations and people. It was established in 1981 by the United Nations with the hope that the children of tomorrow will inherit a better world.

A featured speaker, Jeremy Gilley, says, "We know that today more people think about peace than any other day of the year. We know it's the day when there's the greatest reduction of violence because people change their behavior because we celebrate peace, and we ride for peace, and we sing for peace."

In dialogue with Jeremy Gilley, Kamlesh Patel (Daaji), says, "To me, peace in the family will depend upon individual peace; and peace in the community will depend upon the families; and so on and so forth at a global level. So, unless and until individually we are at peace, we cannot attain global peace. So, how are we going to attain this individual peace? That has been a challenge."

There are also special messages from UN artist Guila Carla Kessous, acclaimed actor and writer Kabir Bedi, and renowned film director Shekhar Kapur. It will also be the world premiere of the Peace Anthem, composed and recorded by Grammy award-winning composer Ricky Kej.
