MMI Academy’s new Applied Project Management course teaches students all the required skills they need to define, plan, organize, and execute a successful project. The course is accredited by the Private Training Institution Branch of the British Columbia Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

While on the course, students will learn about the project life cycle and why a phased approach is preferred when tackling project work. They’ll also learn about stage-gate approvals, or the performance points projects must meet to ensure strategic alignment and effective project governance.
“Beyond conventional methodologies, we emphasize the real-world application of project management principles, ensuring our learners gain a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate the complexities of diverse projects effectively,” explained a spokesperson for MMI Academy. “While this course is for anyone, it is highly recommended for those in the engineering and construction industries who would like to transition into a project management role.”
The Applied Project Management Introduction course includes 80 hours of live and online classes. Classes are usually held in the evenings or on weekends, and all required materials are provided digitally to students before the start of the course. Because the course is MMI Academy’s entry-level offering, there are no prerequisites for enrolment.
Students must attend at least 80% of the sessions, submit all homework assignments, and score at least 75% on the exams to pass the course. Those who meet these requirements will receive a Project Management Certificate.

Those who are unable to attend the January 2025 Project Management Introduction course can sign up for another course offered by MMI Academy later in the year. In addition to January, courses are currently scheduled for April, July, and October.
