PHOENIX - July 12, 2022 - PRLog -- Valley Sleep Center, which specializes in sleep health management services, is pleased to welcome back Dr. Donald Townsend, PHD to the practice, making it the most comprehensive sleep therapy clinic in the state.
Dr. Don Townsend received his initial sleep training at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago in 1998-1999. He then completed a fellowship in sleep medicine in Michigan. He took his sleep medicine board certification in 2002 and his behavioral sleep medicine board in 2005.
He has worked as the director of sleep medicine services for Metropolitan Sleep Disorders Center in St. Paul, MN (now known as United Lung and Sleep Center). He then was the Director of Insomnia Services at Fairview Health Systems in Minneapolis, MN for 3 years prior to relocating to Phoenix. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BA in psychology and biology. He completed his graduate training and received his PhD in clinical health psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
When asked about rejoining the team at Valley Sleep Center, Dr. Townsend stated, "Sleep Medicine is foundational to optimal health. It's my passion. I've dedicated my life's work to helping patients get the rest they need. Sleep is essential to every process in the body. It impacts our physical and mental functioning, as well as our ability to fight disease and develop immunity. Rejoining the team at Valley Sleep Center presented an opportunity for me to further my research, and care for patients. I'm so pleased to be here!"
Valley Sleep Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. There are six locations: Chandler, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Scottsdale, and Tucson.
