Myreah Eley, a 28 year old rapper born in Greenville, NC, recently released an eclectic video, showcasing both vocal and rapping skills, performing a 10-minute song entitled SheRaps UNIverse. Impressively, the one track featured six different beats, different choruses, a soulful amalgam of universally loved genres — such as Hip Hop, Pop, and Rock — and a compelling message wrapped in a lyrical bow. In this unique project filled with heavy lyricism, wit, biblical scripture, and an exhilarating collection of beats, Myreah expressed her Christian beliefs while addressing real social and spiritual issues and driving three points: It’s Jesus above all else, Christian Hip Hop is not a cookie-cutter version of rap, and female rappers spit real bars too.
The song and corresponding video can be found on YouTube as of July 12th, 2024, along with her most recently released album, Pandemic (on all major streaming platforms), her family's travel vlog, TRIUMPH Travels (where her family of eight travels around the U.S. filming testimonies of fellow believers and serving others), and their Eley Ministries channel (filled with videos of sermons, prayers, declarations, and prophetic releases). Not only is SheRaps UNIverse the name of Myreah’s most recent release, but the Christian rapper has plans to evolve an entire spiritually uplifting Hip Hop project featuring a multicultural and multi-ethnic army of Christian female rappers spreading the Gospel through skilled lyricism, cadence, punch lines, and wordplay. SheRaps UNIverse will be the face of this project, along with a sisterhood of talented Christian artists she anticipates this project to establish under her leadership. Myreah encourages other gifted female artists to reach out and send an audition demo if they desire to participate.
Singing for as long as she can remember and rapping and writing poetry since age eight, Myreah faithfully aims to incorporate ministry in the use of all the skills and talents God has given her, which happens to include the making of music, in hopes to bring souls to Christ and create spiritually uplifting content for other believers in Christ to enjoy.
“What people fail to realize is: Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and what we frequently consume and get exposed to comes out of us. If all you listen to and surround yourself with is hate or evil, that's what will come out of you. However, when you are constantly filled with God’s word, reminded of His love and grace, and experiencing His divinity and faithfulness, certainly you're uplifted and your behavior and life will reflect the same. Hip Hop and music in general is just one avenue used to accomplish this.”
Myreah expressed that she knows how it feels to really enjoy and appreciate bodies of work in Hip Hop music and other forms of media in the entertainment industry and not be able to listen to it or watch it because of the evil or negative connotations surrounding it. Those provoking facts inspired her and her husband, Marcus Eley — known as caDASHtrophe — (spiritual leader, prophet, father, and rapper), to launch their own Christian entertainment label, Eley Enforcement Entertainment, founded in 2020 with many plans and ideas for creating biblical based and inspiring content. The couple began street ministry in 2015 where them and their children would deliver free groceries to individuals and families in need and set up in the park in November and hand out turkeys and other fixings while praying with recipients, spreading the Gospel, and sharing the sinner’s prayer with all who desired to accept Jesus into their hearts. This ultimately led to full-time ministry for the young couple and the founding of Eley Ministries, where their mission is to incorporate ministry and biblical values in the education and training of general professions and careers so that Christian youth and other students interested in being doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, law enforcers, musicians, dancers, architects, and other general professions can learn and train under Christian leaders and professionals highly skilled in their fields of interest; consequently, integrating a biblical foundation in early careers and spreading God’s love through fields that are not fluently taught in an actual church. Myreah hopes that Hip Hop lovers and others will connect with them through their music and content and stick around to be spiritually fed and inspired.
