Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
We are saddened to report that Morris E. Tolly, our Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer - East, passed away on October 31, 2018 at the age of 74.
Mr. Tolly had served as our Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer - East since February 2018. Prior to that, he had served as Senior Vice President – Operations of the Corporation since January 2007. Mr. Tolly had been with Builders FirstSource since 1998 and had over 40 years of experience in the building products industry.
Mr. Tolly was highly instrumental in building the collection of businesses we acquired over the years into the industry-leading Fortune 500 company we are today. But, beyond that, he was a coach, mentor, and friend to many, not only in our company, but in the industry. Our lives were enhanced by knowing him. We will miss him.
While Mr. Tolly’s death was unexpected, the Company was aware of his plans to retire in the very near term and succession planning was already well underway. We anticipate that an internal successor will be named shortly.
