Bracket-style tournament will select the best in kids' literature
HURST, Texas - Jan. 11, 2024 - PRLog -- The smartest organization in the country selected the best kids' reads to compete in the ultimate book bracket challenge. Will your favorite win American Mensa's Battle of the Books?
The first round of voting starts Jan. 12. Cast your vote to ensure the best works advance to the championship round.
Based on our Mensa Foundation Excellence in Reading list, two 64-book brackets make up the tournament:
- Grades K-3 Division comprises longtime classics and new favorites divided into chapter books, animal stories, folk tales, and wildcards. Will Charlotte's Web and Madeline make the cut?
- Grades 4-12 Division comprises syllabus-level works divided into children's and young adult literature, required reading, use-your-imagination fantastical tales, and wildcards. Can Harriet the Spy fend off Johnny Tremain?
Anyone of any age may vote at MensaForKids.org/BattleOftheBooks in each round of each division. Six rounds of voting begin on Jan. 12, and winners will be announced on World Book Day on March 2.
Round 1: Jan. 12 – 19
Round 2: Jan. 19 – 26
Round 3: Jan. 26 – Feb. 2
Round 4: Feb. 2 – 9
Round 5: Feb 9 – 16
Championship Round: Feb. 16 – 23
