Omnitron Launches New Multi-rate 1G/2.5G/5G/10G Ethernet and PoE Media Converters

Irvine, CA - September 15, 2022 - Omnitron Systems (www.omnitron-systems.com), a leading provider of Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and fiber network products, today introduced its next generation of OmniConverter® 10Gigabit Multi-rate/Multi-Gig Ethernet and PoE Media Converters.

Designed for applications that require high bandwidth and high power such as connecting the latest Wi-Fi 6/6EAccess Points, Small Cells and IP surveillance cameras, OmniConverter Multi-rate/Multi-gig media converters provide high-speed network distance extension with fiber optic cabling, and have models that function as PoE injectors.

The multi-rate media converters feature a Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceiver receptacle port supporting a variety of copper and fiber transceivers. It supports 10/100/1000BASE-T,1000BASE-T, 2.5BASE-T, 5GBASE-T and 10GBASE-T copper transceivers and 1G and 10G multimode or single-mode fiber, dual or single-fiber transceivers in standard CWDM and DWDM wavelengths. The OmniConverter® 10G Multi-rate Media Converters feature one 1G / 10G SFP/SFP+ uplink port and one or two multi-rate RJ-45 ports. The RJ-45 user ports support multi-rate speeds of 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps and 10Gbps.

The PoE+ models support IEEE 802.3at (15 and 30W) and the PoE++ (HPoE) models support IEEE 802.3bt (60 and 100W) per user port depending on the model.  The PoE media converters automatically negotiate and deliver the power level required by a Powered Device (PD) partner.  Depending on the OmniConverter PoE model, the media converter can deliver up to 100 watts of power per port. Configurable features include a PoE power reset function that enables a PD device to be re-initialized remotely, eliminating the need for costly truck rolls to remote PD sites.

The new OmniConverter® 10G Multi-rate Ethernet and Media Converters are available as unmanaged plug-and-play models. They can be powered with an available DC power input, or with an external 100-240VAC power adapter.

“Omnitron Systems has recognized a clear market demand for high PoE power and multi-rate/multi-gig high bandwidth for the latest Wi-Fi 6/6E access points,” said Sankar Ramachandran, Director of Product Management. He then added “Revolutionary 6-speed Multi-Gigabit technology (10M/100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G) built in the Omnitron Systems multi-speed media converters allow devices to speed past the Gigabit barrier. Customers can achieve five times faster speeds using their existing CAT 5e cable infrastructure.”

OmniConverter® 10G Multi-rate Ethernet and PoE Media Converters can be shelf, wall and DIN rail mounted.  They are available in Commercial (0° to 50°C), and Wide (-40° to 60°C) operating temperature ranges.

All OmniConverter® 10G Multi-rate Ethernet and PoE Media Converters are designed and manufactured in the USA. They are TAA and NDAA compliant and feature a Lifetime Warranty and free 24/7 technical support.
