As previously disclosed on August 7, 2008, Dennis Eidson's appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Spartan Stores, Inc. became effective October 15, 2008. Mr. Eidson succeeded former Chief Executive Officer Craig C. Sturken. Mr. Sturken will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board.
