Expert Team brings unparalleled real-world experience with Production Applications
Optomec -- a leading, manufacturer of Metal 3D Printing machines, announced the formation and meeting of its Metal Additive Manufacturing Technical Advisory Board (TAB). The first board meeting was recently held in virtual format. The TAB members comprise many of the world’s leading experts in Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM). The TAB was formed to help define and develop more effective Metal AM solutions for the industrial manufacturing segment and accelerate the adoption of AM for wide-spread production use. The current board members, each with more than a decade of global leadership in Metal AM, represent the following organizations:

As the world leader with over 500 Additive Manufacturing machines in use, Optomec and its TAB possess a unique perspective on the requirements for the proliferation of Metal Additive Manufacturing in the broader market.
The initial TAB meeting focused on the general topic of the effects of the COVID pandemic on production and supply chain strategies and its implications on Metal Additive Manufacturing. It also addressed narrower subjects such as the requirements for automation, in-situ sensors, the need for production-ready process recipes, the growing need for mixed-alloy processing and the increased demand for titanium alloy production brought about by the aerospace industry.
“Optomec has long been engaged with its users from industry and academia on an individualized basis, but the Technical Advisory Board setting brings new synergies and insights that will help shape our business strategies. We are honored to have the participation of such accomplished experts in their fields, and appreciate their contribution not only to Optomec, but to the development and direction of Metal Additive Manufacturing overall.” said Dave Ramahi, Optomec CEO.
As a result of the success of the Metal AM Technical Advisory Board, Optomec is also establishing a TAB to drive production adoption in the Printed Electronics sector. Optomec’s Printed Electronics machines enable manufacturers to create extremely fine 3D electronic structures--such as circuits, sensors, antennas and interconnects--with features as small as 10 microns using nanoparticle inks. The machines are widely used in the Aerospace and Defense, Energy, Medical Device, Advanced Electronics Packaging and Research segments.
