Behaven Kids Adds Veteran Health Care Compliance and Integrity Expert to Advisory Team

Former Kaiser leader and Kadiant compliance officer Tammi Keating joins Nebraska’s leading provider of services for children with autism and behavioral challenges

Behaven Kids, one of Nebraska’s leading providers of services for children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, mental health-related issues and behavioral challenges, has added Tammi Keating, one of the country’s most experienced corporate compliance and integrity executives, to its advisory team.

Keating has more than 20 years of experience in designing, building and managing health care compliance, privacy, risk management and regulatory strategies, initiatives and programs. During her 16 years at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Keating served as vice president of national compliance where she expanded and managed an enterprise-wide compliance and privacy program for the $70+ billion company. At Kadiant, she designed and implemented a compliance, safety, and credentialing program for the autism services company. She also pioneered an innovative, integrated risk management program that enabled more efficient decision-making and risk management activities. Keating received a bachelor’s degree in the Business Honors Program and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She also completed an executive leadership program at Harvard Business School for Executive Education.

“Compliance and integrity are two cornerstones of our business,” said Themis Gomes, CEO of Behaven Kids. “Tammi brings an incredible amount of experience, perspective and insight that will be a tremendous asset to us as we serve families throughout Nebraska.”

Keating will be working with Behaven Kids to maintain and continually assess all compliance and privacy policies and procedures, as well as provide strategic insight to the company’s senior management.

“Behaven Kids is dedicated to helping children and families with both compassion and integrity,” said Keating. “The company’s compliance program is designed to ensure protection of client and patient rights, such as safety, privacy, accurate billing and, of course, the best care possible, all while being transparent and adhering to government and insurer requirements.”

Nebraska has one of the largest underserved populations in the country of minors with autism spectrum disorder and mental health conditions. More than 7,400 children in Nebraska seek autism-related services every year; the current capacity of autism centers in the state can meet only 10% of this demand, leaving 90% of children in Nebraska not receiving needed services and support. The state ranks 28 in the country for prevalence of youth mental illness and access to care. Despite this, there are provider shortages in 88 of Nebraska’s 93 counties, and 32 counties have no behavioral health providers whatsoever.

Behaven Kids is a provider of services for children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, mental health-related issues and behavioral difficulties. The company provides a full range of therapy, counseling and care services to help children, parents and families at three locations in Nebraska. Behaven Kids has more than 70 professionals with a variety of credentials and expertise, including board certified behavioral analysts, licensed behavior specialists, licensed mental health practitioners and certified clinical trauma professionals.
