CALUMET, MICHIGAN - Superior Polymer Products recently completed a hybrid project with General Contractor Martineau Morris of Houghton, Michigan. EcoStud® Flanged Furring Channels where used to fur out the exterior walls which were then insulated with closed cell spray foam insulation before switching to steel framing to complete the build out. Utilizing this approach, Martineau Morris was able to eliminate the thermal circuit created by steel furring and double the effective R-Value of the wall assembly as compared to using steel furring in the same manner.

EcoStud® Flanged Furring Channels have an integrated nailing flange that allows them to be attached directly to a wall eliminating the need for top and bottom tracks this feature allows them to be installed at the speed of Z Furring. The EcoStud® line also includes Z-furring channels, identical to steel Z furring; but like the Flanged Furring Channel, they are made of 100% recycled plastic to provide a thermal break which doubles the effective R-Value of the total wall assembly.
