The Right Side of Learning Expands Tutoring Program to Educational Products

NEW Interactive program teaches right-brained thinkers how to excel in school and life

Manhattan Beach, CA - The Right Side of Learning - a concept based on the latest research on how the two hemispheres of the brain actually learn - expands its one-on-one tutoring and educational therapy programs to a series of academic products aimed to enhance learning and study skills for attention deficit, dyslexia and creative right-brained thinkers.

Founded by educational psychologists Melanie West and Suzanne Kisly Coburn, The Right Side of Learning Program consists of an Introduction Book, DVD, Reading Kit and Flashcards.

“The right hemisphere of the brain thinks in pictures; the left hemisphere thinks with words,” says West. “While all students need both sides of the brain activated for long-term learning to occur, some find it more difficult than others to connect the dots...especially in a world of left-brain teachers.”

The Right Side of Learning program provides students with tools that keep both the left and right hemispheres of the brain consciously activated. These skills improve a right-brained thinker’s attention, mental focus, and comprehension, which in turn enhances organization, decreases the time needed to complete work, and increases test performance.

Developed in 2007, and incorporated into West and Coburn’s educational therapy sessions, The Right Side of Learning is a tried-and-tested program. Through their research, West and Coburn have found that it yields powerful results.

“In one study of 9th grade students nearing school failure,” states Coburn, “The Right Side of Learning strategies increased test performance and reading comprehension by 80%.”

In addition to the merchandising of The Right Side of Learning program, West and Coburn anticipate expanding their one-on-one tutoring sector by three times its original size by the end of 2011.
