Church Street School For Music And Art Presents Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops

Church Street School for Music and Art is the only not-for-profit community music and art school in Lower Manhattan. As one of the biggest and most important fundraisers for the school, all proceeds will support programs at the Church Street School.


Start the holiday season off with a fun activity for the whole family. Work on a gingerbread house with family and friends, or have one all to yourself! We provide endless candy, live music, and the smell of fresh gingerbread. Bring your imagination; take home holiday memories. Contribute to the most festive fundraiser in town!

Architect, designer, and Church Street School parent David Rockwell talked with us about his own experience at Church Street School’s Gingerbread House Workshops: “For the past three or four years our family has taken part… and it’s been a very humbling experience. It’s so rewarding to go on a creative journey with your kids and it’s something fun and inventive and challenging (especially to an architect!).”

When asked if he had any construction tips for the aspiring gingerbread architects out there, Rockwell said, “There is no right way, as long as it tastes good! Say yes to every piece of candy that comes by, and remember that minimalism is not the solution; renowned architect Mies van der Rohe once said that less is more, but when it comes to gingerbread, less is a bore!”

WHEN: December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19
Saturdays: 2:15 and 4:00 pm
Sundays: 11:00 am, 1:00 and 3:00 pm
$95 per house (includes everything) if you register before December 6th
$100 per house after December 6th
Currently enrolled students receive a $5 discount.
Prices include all-you-can-use candy and homemade icing!
